I recently quit my job and had the same experience as you. I revisited this week to complete a project as a contractor, and while the visit was great, I spent more time alone because I could no longer help people with their work in the way I used to. It was revelatory and showed me that wanting or needing that post-employment connection likely won't happen with this group.
