Ask Your Company What They Plan To Do Regarding Gun Laws
The past few weeks have been tough for many families and communities. Violence of any sort is tough for people to understand and consume. And the ongoing impact of gun violence can make people feel numb.
But I am still committed to speaking up and speaking out when I can.
One of my favorite quotes is “Speak the voice of your heart even when your voice is breaking.” Right now, if we can speak up, we should.
A Repost from LinkedIn
I felt the need to put my values into action on LinkedIn. I felt that the posts I found were too neutral in the face of continuing gun violence. So I wrote the following post. Please share it widely.
“When states introduce anti______ (fill in the blank), many companies adjust their work in the state. Either they leave the state, stop sending staff to meetings there, or even move their professional events that will take place there.
“What does your company or industry stand on gun laws and gun violence?
“Honestly, I am shocked that LinkedIn isn’t filled with more calls against gun violence — ostensibly, people work in these companies and people are killed by guns. It’s not a big leap that WE ARE ALL IMPACTED by gun violence.
“And by the time it reaches you, it’s too late to do anything.
“Make this a big deal with your company, industry, or trade. Otherwise, it’s just a thought and prayer that something will happen to keep this from happening in your own life. And we know that’s not enough to protect anyone.”
I’ll continue my thoughts soon. Be safe and be well. I am in this fight with you.
